I was venturing into a painting & decorating career even before leaving school when I worked with my Dad on some decorating jobs during the school holidays.
He sub-contracted to the newly formed David Hartnup Ltd.
My Dad helped them get off the ground, sometimes working 48+ hours non stop to help them fulfill the many contracts they began winning.
Thanks to my Dad, I began my time with David Hartnup Ltd in 1983.
But within two years of me starting my time on Hartnup's, my Dad decided to start his own decorating business which was strong for twelve years until he fell ill.
